County Supervisors To Discuss Key Issues Tuesday BJ Hansen MML News Reporter Sonora & San Andreas, Ca -- The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will vote on Tuesday Nov. 25, whether to continue funding the Groveland Physical Therapy Clinic through March. The Board had previously planned to operate the clinic through December, but Julie Tanaka has informed the Supervisors that she is interested in taking over operations but will need a few extra months to get everything in place. Meanwhile in San Andreas, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will discuss potential staff cuts that could be made to help balance the budget deficit. The Interim Community Development Director, John Taylor, is proposing that eight of the Building Department's 20 paid positions be laid off due to the tough financial times. Written by bjhansen@mlode.com http://www.mymotherlode.com/News/ Calaveras County Jail Ground Breaking Could Come Next Summer Bill Johnson MML News Director San Andreas, CA -- Despite all the budget woes in Sacramento Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum states that jail funding monies as passed by AB900 are totally separate from the state's general fund. That said Downum says the next step is to hire a construction manager to oversee the project. Once that is accomplished construction bids will be accepted by the County. Downum feels ground could possibly be broken for the 240 bed facility during the summer of 2009. The overall facility will also house the 911 Communications Center and all administrative personnel. Calaveras County was awarded $26 million from the state to supplement the $30 million bond issue that was passed by the voters.
